Leigh-Ann De Sousa graduated at the University of Witwatersrand with a diploma in Oral Hygiene, with Expanded Functions, these include taking radiographic x rays, administering of local anaesthetics and impressions for whitening.
After graduating, she went straight into Orthodontics working at a well known Orthodontic Practice in Johannesburg.
In 2005, she relocated to Durban, KZN. She soon started working for a well established Periodontal Practice on the Berea, where she gained valuable knowledge in Periodontics. Having worked there for a few months, she finally realised that this was her field of expertise, and now has a special interest in Periodontal disease, and the treatment of all gum related issues. She has been gaining periodontal experience ever since.
In 2008 she got married on the beautiful island of Mauritius. The family soon started growing, with her son, Michael, being born in 2009 and then daughter, Megan, soon followed in 2010. They currently live in Durban North.
Her passion is dentistry and everything related to it. She has a deep appreciation for what she does and enjoys meeting new people on a daily basis. For the past 3 years, she has also served on the board of the Oral Hygienist Association of South Africa (OHASA) representing KZN.
In 2013, she was fortunate enough to attend the International Symposium of Dental Hygienists, where she met Dental Professionals from around the world.
When she’s not working, she enjoys being a mother to her 2 young children and a wife. She loves the outdoors, and will be the first to jump at any new adventure!
